Snowkat SK3 Protogen (3D Files)
The Snowkat SK3 Protogen head is a heavily modded version of M16 Studios' MK3 protogen head. All credit for the original model's aesthetics goes to them!
I'd like to make it clear that no parts for the original MK3 fit on the SK3. That's because it has been upscaled substancially, as I found the original to be rather tight.
Main changes and features:
- The entire base is now bigger and has a rounder head dome, allowing for users with bigger heads to use it comfortably
- Ventilation has been majorly improved with a dual 4020 blower fan setup. One for intake, one for exhaust.
This should reduce fogging to virtually zero. This has been tested with the SK2 (MK2 Neo) and works fantastic. - Helmet is now substancially lighter thanks to passive ventilation holes.
- 2 front frame options: for 32x64 P3 panels and for MAX7219 32x32 mm matrices.
- MAX7219 frame can fit either 14 or 16 matrices (2 matrix eye version and 3 matrix eye version)
- Visor buck is now optimized for printing.
3D Printing:
This is a rather big base. To avoid having to assemble a million pieces, the base is split up and optimized for a 256mm^3 printer bed.
The recommended material is PETG (or stronger). Super flexible, plenty strong.
Don't use PLA! It'll deform if left under the sun or in a car.
This particular model was made with mostly thin walls, so the ideal print settings will make the thin parts completely solid, and the rest mostly solid. 7 walls and at least 30% infill should do the trick.
Assembly:
Other than the front frame (face plate) using screws to attach itself to the rest of the base, this protogen doesn't use fasteners.
You can glue the pieces together, but it may not be so strong.
So, how do you put the pieces together? Welding.
It sounds harder than it is, trust me.
The base files will come with different versions, one of which has chamfered edges exclusively so you can weld the pieces together with a 3D pen or other plastic welding means.
This results in a base that's as sturdy as if it was printed in one piece, more than capable of standing up to regular use!
Notes:
- This model will get updated regularly with user feedback, if needed. The goal is to achieve a well tested and reliable protogen model. I can only test so much by myself, so again, don't hesitate to leave your feedback!
- The STL files included here are for non-commercial use only. That means, they are for you to make a protogen for yourself.

Changelogs:
9/10/25: 0.1 Hotfix
- P3 Front Frame now has an extra mounting point to the base and has been cut to fit precisely on Bambu machines
- Added cutting jig for visors. This should be used to trace the cutting pattern on either the visor or your visor buck
- Added a visor buck with the cutting pattern integrated to it. This will leave a rib on the visor which will serve to guide you cutting it.
